Savoury Waffles

Savoury waffles just hit different! Build your stack with spinach, tomatoes, plenty of bacon and our Apricot with Mango sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Plain flour
  • 4 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika, ground
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 450 ml Milk
  • 4 Egg
  • 150 g Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Colby cheese, grated
  • 3 Tbsp Parmesan, finely grated
  • 1 Large handful Fresh chives or parsley

Suggested Serving Ingredients

Method

  1. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, paprika, salt and pepper together.
  2. Add milk and eggs. Whisk until just combined. Add melted butter and whisk until smooth. Fold in cheese and herbs.
  3. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
  4. Heat your waffle maker to the desired setting. Fill with mixture (it will expand quite a bit on cooking) and cook waffles to your liking. Keep warm in a low oven (~100ºC) on a rack, if needed.
  5. Add your favourite toppings and serve.

Tips

  1. Waffle batter can be made the night before and refrigerated until ready to use in the morning.
  2. Recipe is easily halved to make 3 waffles.
  3. Try swirling Barker’s chutneys or savoury sauces through the waffle batter before cooking. Yum!!
