Savoury Waffles

Savoury waffles just hit different! Build your stack with spinach, tomatoes, plenty of bacon and our Apricot with Mango sauce.

Ingredients
- 2 cups Plain flour
- 4 tsp Baking powder
- 1 tsp Paprika, ground
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper
- 450 ml Milk
- 4 Egg
- 150 g Butter, melted
- 1 cup Colby cheese, grated
- 3 Tbsp Parmesan, finely grated
- 1 Large handful Fresh chives or parsley
Suggested Serving Ingredients
- Barker's Spiced NZ Apricot with Mango Sauce
- Barker's Not So Sweet Chilli Sauce
- Baby spinach
- Grilled bacon
- Sour cream
Method
- In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, paprika, salt and pepper together.
- Add milk and eggs. Whisk until just combined. Add melted butter and whisk until smooth. Fold in cheese and herbs.
- Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
- Heat your waffle maker to the desired setting. Fill with mixture (it will expand quite a bit on cooking) and cook waffles to your liking. Keep warm in a low oven (~100ºC) on a rack, if needed.
- Add your favourite toppings and serve.
Tips
- Waffle batter can be made the night before and refrigerated until ready to use in the morning.
- Recipe is easily halved to make 3 waffles.
- Try swirling Barker’s chutneys or savoury sauces through the waffle batter before cooking. Yum!!
