Barker's x Bike Geraldine: Jam Slam
2026-08-14
Barker’s has called Heratini, Geraldine, home since 1969, when Anthony Barker first foraged elderberries along the riverbanks. Today, our team has grown to more than 250 people, most of whom live locally, and our connection to this community is as strong as ever. Geraldine is not just where we work. It is where we live, raise our families, and connect. It is the place where our people, our friends, and our futures are rooted.
Because of this deep connection, we are committed to helping create a vibrant, thriving, and connected community for generations to come.
That commitment is what led us to proudly partner with Bike Geraldine as sponsors of the new Riddell’s Reserve MTB Park, currently under development. Over the years, Geraldine has evolved from a place people drive through to a destination where people stop, explore, and stay, and we are excited to be part of that journey.
As track sponsors, we were given the important and very fun job of naming one of the trails. We turned to our team for ideas, and after plenty of creativity, debate, and a staff vote, “Jam Slam” was chosen, a name that felt perfectly fitting for Barker’s.
The Riddell’s Reserve MTB Park will feature five professionally designed trails, catering to a wide range of riders, from smooth, flowy green runs to more technical black descents. It is designed to be a place where riders of all ages and abilities can enjoy the outdoors and challenge themselves. At the summit, a shared path will welcome both walkers and riders, leading to a lookout and a thoughtfully designed community space. Surrounded by native plantings, this area will offer a place for everyone to pause, take in the view, and appreciate the remarkable landscape we are lucky to have right on our doorstep.
At Barker’s, we are proud to support initiatives that promote active lifestyles, strengthen community connections, and enhance the environment we all share. We look forward to continuing to invest in the people and the place we proudly call home. So next time you are in Geraldine, come and visit us at the Barker’s Foodstore & Eatery, and if you’re feeling adventurous, give the Jam Slam a go.
