Use a cup or two of vanilla ice-cream instead of yoghurt as a treat it will produce a much thicker milk shake type smoothie.
Substitute dairy (milk and yoghurt) with coconut milk.
Substitute other fresh fruit instead of pineapple for convenience. Banana works well – even place chopped up, peeled, very ripe bananas into a zip lock bag and place in freezer and use this frozen fruit in the smoothie. This also reduces the amount of ice you need and will still provide the luscious creamy icy quality to the smoothie.
You can also put some cereal (¼ cup) for the kids in the bottom of the blender and blitz that and then add the rest of the ingredients to make it a super breakfast delight!
