Fundraising Success this Autumn

As the summer light fades, events and fundraisers continue into the autumn months.

We are delighted to have supported a number of charities, community groups, clubs, and schools with product sponsorship this winter. We wish you well with all your engaging and fundraising endeavours.

Geraldine High School students delivered Easter Baskets to senior members of the community and hampers of Barker’s goodies to the Waihi Lodge and McKenzie Rest Home. The students raised money for the Easter Eggs by holding mufti days and found the whole experience incredibly rewarding. Teacher Ms Maria Heitkonig said “This is a fantastic learning opportunity for our students, as well as a way for them to give back to the community.”

May is the season for a Pink Ribbon Breakfast, community fundraisers for the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation. Not limited to breakfasts; people have held morning teas, high teas, high lunches, social evenings and fun runs…fun and creative ways to engage local community while raising funds for a worthy cause.

Fairlie Golf Club have supported the Halberg Foundation for many years by raising funds via their golf club tournaments. These funds help with programmes to enhance the lives of physically disabled young people by enabling them to participate in sport. Barker’s raffle items are always very popular at these tournaments!

Quiz nights are great winter fundraisers for many organisations, here are just a few highlights: Taranaki Rugby League raised funds for tournament costs including travel and uniforms; Geraldine Netball intend to upgrade equipment for the junior netball players with their fundraising success; Bushtown Waimate Inc raised funds for their cause – a 7 hectare heritage site being developed in Waimate with a sawmill, Bushmen’s huts, Edwardian cottages and over 20,000 native trees; Kapimana Multiples fundraiser helped the organisation support families with twins, triplets and more from Tawa in Wellington right up to the Kapiti Coast; and Fielding High School senior students were raising funds for a Commerce Class trip to the USA in 2020.

Massey High School
held workshops for their students to promote health and wellness. The students loved the Barker’s Dessert Sauce prizes awarded in the programme. The organisers tell us “We had so much feedback from the students of how much they appreciated it and the support from the community!”
