A busy Winter spreading the love

It has been a busy winter and start of spring, spreading the love in our communities.

Here are some highlights from the many events we have supported this season.

The annual James Hargest College Ball Extravaganza was another big success. Organised by the students to raise funds for charities, this year Motor Neurone Disease was the beneficiary. They served delicious and refreshing drinks made with Barker’s syrups at the supper. Overall, they raised over $2000.

Kiwitea School is a small school in the Manawatu, not far from Feilding. Their winter Country Hoedown & Auction Evening raised money to help fund a new teacher aide and to help keep their school bus running. A fantastic night was had by all. Congratulations Kiwitea School, on your hugely successful fundraiser. Omarama School held an Art Auction & Dinner to raise funds for a third teacher at the school. “We raised many thousands of dollars, which is a huge achievement for our wee country school.” Weedons School had a midwinter Bingo Night. “Friends, family and our community came together on a cold Saturday night, fought the elements and helped us bring 220 people together to support Weedons School’s major fundraiser for 2019.”

The Kaikoura Whale Run is the annual fundraiser for Kaikoura Suburban School. Barker’s syrups, for prizes and drinks, were well received at the Whale Run – going quicker than the water! They had approximately 360 competitors across all categories and the day was a massive success!

The Petone Club held a charity dinner to raise money for The Neonatal Trust. “The funds raised will enable much support for neonatal families. It is the families going through such stressful experiences, and all those that pass through a neonatal unit for any period of time, that we support.”

The Custom & Classic Waimate Car Club celebrated their 20th anniversary by bringing together their members for a fun-filled day at the Waimate showgrounds – with meals and entertainment, overnight camping, and prizes for the best dressed.

Rapanui-Brunswick Playcentre baked some delicious treats for a ‘high tea’ style supper at their Clothes Swap Evening. Funds raised form this fun event will be used towards the purchase of new play equipment for the children.
