2018 Sponsorship Wrap Up

Fundraising wheels never stop turning!

While wild winter weather drove events indoors there were many quiz evenings, movie nights, conferences and balls. Come spring, schools moved their activities out of doors, and end of year fundraisers benefited charities and local communities.

Here are some highlights:

James Hargest College – Leo Ball
The Leo Club gives senior students a chance to enhance leadership skills and stand out positively in the community. Each year they have a full calendar of large and small fundraising events, and they are very proud of their efforts. We were thrilled to support the Leo Balls with Barker’s Syrups to serve at the drinks bar during their supper. They tell us “The Ball Extravaganza was definitely the most challenging event to plan, but a truly rewarding experience! This year we managed to raise $4,900 which went to Transplant House.”

Pukekohe Intermediate School – Trivia Night
They share their fundraising success story with us – “Thank you so much for your support for our trivia evening. We are raising funds to send 19 students to Japan in September. They will be home-stayed for a week and go to our sister school in Hara Mura, then see some of the sights of Japan for another night. Having your delicious products at our trivia night meant that we were able to offer some awesome prizes for our raffles, which were highly sought after. Thank you so much!”

NZ Society of Diversional Therapy Conference
Diversional & Recreational Therapists have contacts with a wide range of the community, including those with physical disabilities, both healthy and frail elderly, people with developmental disabilities, people with mental illness, children and youth. 150 people attended their annual conference from all around NZ. A gift pack and was given as the first prize for a competition using second hand clothing to make a new item.

Rapanui Brunswick Playcentre – Preggy to Pepe Market
This playcentre took Barker’s products to the kitchen to create a selection of yummy goodies to sell at their bake stand. They also served Soda Syrups with sparkling water, as refreshments. Money raised at the market will help to upgrade its outdoor area, with a bike track and balance bicycles.
