Happy 45th Birthday to Barker’s of Geraldine
Celebrating 45 yearsDuring a crisp, cool evening in the gardens of Stonebridge in Geraldine, members of the Barker’s team, the Barker family and invited guests were greeted with a warming serve of Mountain Moonshine to celebrate 45 years of innovation, hard work and success within the Australasian food industry.
It is something special when Michael Barker, his wife Brigitte, daughters and sisters still take the time and effort to individually greet 200 guests at the door. It is this dedication to the business and warmth of character that makes Barker’s a special place to work and earns the respect of the wider team.
It was a privilege to be joined by many spouses, as Barker’s also recognised the support they too give the business. Barker’s staff have proudly contributed with their hard work to enable excellent growth over the past number of years. To capture the moment, all guests rallied together to ‘cheers’ the photographer as the night marked a rare occasion; when the whole team stopped and celebrated together.
The evening featured a stunning array of food prepared by Paul Jobin (chef) and Marcus Braun (pastry chef), both well renowned and awarded each in their own right.
Paul’s menu saw guests enjoy succulent sliders, tasty croquettes, savoury sausage rolls, mini filo cases filled with relish and savoury jellies and a secret recipe for some show stopping Texas lamb ribs.
Marcus finished the evening with a colourful and elegantly presented selection of fine desserts which showcased his flair and skill in patisserie and dessert making.
The special part of the evening saw long serving staff members recognised for their exceptional contribution and loyal service to the business.
While 20 were recognised for 10-14 years and 15 were recognised for 15-20 years, another staggering 15 were recognised for 20 years service, including the farewell of Denise Kenny retiring as the Retail Shop Manager after 24 years service and Valmai Crawford celebrating her recent retirement after 28 years.
The evening was a great display of our mission to inspire our customers and work with them to create fabulous food. It also was the perfect execution of our Barker’s Way, which is all about celebrating our GREAT People, GREAT Taste and GREAT Brands.
