Herbal Hot Tonic

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/3 cup Barker's Lemon, Honey & Ginger fruit syrup
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 small clove garlic, roughly chopped (about 1 tsp)
  • 5cm slice fresh turmeric, peeled and finely grated (or ½ tsp ground turmeric)
  • 1 Tbsp fresh oregano leaves, roughly chopped
  • 5 sprigs fresh thyme
  • ½ tsp cracked black pepper

METHOD

  1. Combine Lemon, Honey & Ginger fruit syrup with water, garlic, turmeric, fresh herbs and black pepper in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to the boil then simmer for five minutes.
  3. Turn off the heat and allow flavours to infuse for ten minutes.
  4. Strain and serve with an extra crack of black pepper.
