New Labels

We’ve had new labels specially crafted for our Barker’s of Geraldine product range, complete with artist-drawn fruit images. The reason we changed to the new look was to try and tell our story better. We felt that while our old labels were crisp and professional they didn’t give any feel for the family nature of our business over 40 years – and all the passion that has gone into it over 2 generations.

We also felt that our old labels could have been made by any “faceless corporate company” in any city of the world. We really wanted to emphasise the New Zealand made and New Zealand fruit provenance of most of our range.

Our jam range was the first to feature the new look - you’ve probably already noticed them in your local supermarket. For our extensive range of jams, marmalades and curds we source our apricots and Black Doris plums from Central Otago, raspberries and boysenberries from Nelson, blackcurrants from Canterbury, blackberries from Levin, citrus from Poverty Bay and strawberries from further north. For our exotic Morello Cherry Jam, we source the traditional Sour Morello cherry from Europe. And if we can’t source enough fruit from the New Zealand crop we import from approved growing regions and we provide that specific information on the label.

Here’s a tip: try the New Zealand Plum Sauce in stir-fries or as a dipping sauce for spring rolls – it’s the new tomato sauce!
